As the producer of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, DJ U-Neek established himself as a savvy hip-hop mastermind, able to balance commercial sensibilities with a street attitude. This was most evident on Bone Thugs' 1995 album, E. 1999 Eternal, which boasted the massive hit single "Crossroads." It took DJ U-Neek four years to break out on his own with Ghetto Street Pharmacist, a record that confirmed his producing skills yet sounded a little dated. With his Ghetto Street Thugs release U-Neek aims to change that, since U-Neek doesn't rap, he has an ever-rotating cast of guest artists taking the mic, concentrating on artists he's developing and worked with. At its best, Ghetto Street Thugs plays like a good mix tape, one where the music flows naturally from one song to the next. If anything, U-Neek doesn't try enough different styles, sticking a little too close to the pop-flavored hardcore of Bone Thugs. This tape features unreleased Bone Thugs gems such as Sailin by Krayzie Bone, and Secret Agent Man by the whole Bone Thugs clan. The mixtape is definitely worth downloading if you are a serious BTNH fan and you appreciate their albums. For such fans this mixtape would be a 5 out of 5 compared to other BTNH mixtapes.
