D-12 LIFE TIMELINE
D12, or Dirty Dozen, consists of Proof (DeShaun Holton), Kuniva (Von Carlisle), Kon Artis (Denine Porter), Bizarre (Rufus Johnson), Swifty (Oscar Moore), and Eminem. D12 was actually formed by Proof and Bizarre in 1990 and based in Detroit. A former member, Bugz, was murdered (and replaced by Swifty in 1998). The group grew to 6 members, each naming themselves with aliases.
June 2001: D12 released Devil's Night.
July 2001: Devil's Night topped the Billboard 200 LP chart for 2 weeks and the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart for a week. D12 topped the Billboard Hot Rap Singles chart for 3 weeks with "Purple Hills."
August 2001: D12 hit the Top 40 with "Purple Hills." Devil's Night was certified platinum.
October 2002: D12 could be heard on the soundtrack for 8 Mile with "Rap Game."
March 2004: D12 hit the Top 40 with help from Eminem with "My Band."
April 2004: D12 hit the Top 10 with help from Eminem with "My Band." D12 released D12 World.
May 2004: D12 topped the Billboard 200 LP chart for a week and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart for a week with D12 World selling over 544,000 copies in the US its first week of release. The LP also topped the LP charts in the UK and Canada. D12 topped the Billboard Rhythmic Airplay chart with "My Band." D12 appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone.
June 2004: D12 hit the Top 40 with "How Come."
August 2004: The video for "My Band" was nominated for 3 MTV Video Music Awards including Video of the Year, Best Group Video and Best Rap Video.
September 2004: D12 could be heard on the soundtrack for Shark Tale. D12 World was certified 2x platinum.
October 2004: The single "My Band" was certified platinum.
November 2004: D12 won a MTV Europe Award for Best Hip-Hop Act.
May 2005: The single "How Come" was certified gold.
April 2006: Proof (DeShaun Holton) was shot and killed at a Detroit nightclub.
