RAPCENTRAL REVIEW:
'Rotten Apple' is Lloyd Bank's sophomore album and is released under G-Unit/Interscope records. It was supposed to be released in the summer of 2006 but was delayed for a number of reasons, primarily because of lack of airplay and promotion surrounding the album. The title 'Rotten Apple' comes from the G Unit rappers homeplace, New York, the Big Apple as it is known, and this album sets out to show the darker side of New York City. But you get the feeling that Banks abandoned that plan mid-way through the album in favour of rapping about how much ice he has, and of course, he raps about his one night stands as he takes on his 'Blue Hefner' persona in 'One Night Stand' and 'Playboy 2'.

The Album starts off fairly strong, with 'Rotten Apple' the single, featuring the G Unit general 50 Cent. This song is what the album should stand for, and it is continued into the second song, 'Survival'. Both of these tracks represent the origional concept of the 'Rotten Apple', but sadly, it dosn't continue much further, there are a few tracks with this feel to them, but overall, Banks loses the plot of his own album as we get further into the album.
It's not the punchline throwing Banks that is respected on the mixtape circut either, all of his rhymes and lyrics seem to be plain boasting of what he has, they have little or no substance at times. Like Banks' platnum selling debut album 'The Hunger For More' Banks underachieves his goal. Frankly, 'The Hunger For More' was a better album than 'Rotten Apple', with the 'Southside Story' track having a heavy beat and lyrics to think about. ("In the seteets of New York you can't trust nobody/ Niggaz will run up on you with a 12 gauge shotty/")...In a perfect world 'Southside Story' would be the first single off 'Rotten Apple' because it is exactly what 'Rotten Apple' was supposed to be. But 'Hands Up' (quoted as being called 'On Fire' part 2) and yet another G Unit club song, but on a good note, between all the boasting, the ladies and ice, this is the only club song on the album. 'Hands Up' is actually a good song though, unlike most of the innumerable G Unit club songs, this one has a good Eminem produced beat and lyrics that are not, for the most part...crap.
Aside from that, the album lets Banks down in a number of ways. After the decline in G Unit's popularity in the year previous, 50 Cent was counting on his right hand man, Lloyd Banks' sophomore to prove the critics wrong, but he only proved them right.

TOP TRACKS: 01 - Rotten Apple, 02 - Survival, 06 - Hands Up

NOBODY SMILING REVIEW:

nterestingly, Lloyd Banks' new disc, 'Rotten Apple', may be one of G-Unit's most important releases in recent memory. The group's first run of the solo releases—50 Cent's 'Get Rich Or Die Tryin' and 'The Massacre', Banks' 'Hunger For More', Young Buck's 'Straight Outta Cashville', former member Game's 'The Documentary'—succeeded both among the streets and the billboards, helping give them credibility as the industry's new premier rap crew. But after duds by Tony Yayo and Mobb Deep failed to make waves with fans and critics alike, many are expecting the downfall of 50 Cent and company. With his sophomore set, Banks delivers a solid album that manages to pull the Unit out of its rut, but fails to break any new ground for Banks himself.

'Rotten Apple' is a standard, run-of-the-mill G-Unit release in many regards; but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Banks is still running through blocks, broads and shopping centers over G-Unit's glossy, top notch production, with plenty of witty punchlines and alluring hooks to boot. Banks is a highly capable MC—“Playboy 2â€

This album is so weak! I liked 3 tracks. The album starts arite through 'rotten apple' and 'survival' Their beats kinda link as well. from then, there was nothing. mostly why i didn't like this album is cus of the beats which weren't good and cus i couldn't hear what banks was saying!
banks needs to step this shit up cus this album was far from impressive. him and G-Unit needa step it up cus they ain't goin nowhere with wack shit like this all the time.
Banks voice needs more projecting in this
If banks releases another album, he needs to choose bettter beats to rap to and get his words heard.
this album was weak!
My rating: 4/10

Best Tracks Rotten Apple, Survival, Get Clapped
Step it up banks!

EDIT--------

wen i first had the album i thought it was rel garbage too but i sat an listened to the whole thing and i realised it wasnt as shitty. reason y is cuz yea half of the beats were not as good as on his debut album hunger for more. But the lyrics make up for the shitty production. theres mad multis in every song so the lyrics will get 8/10 from me. beats 6.5/10. overall rating on the album 7/10. Tracks i liked : The cake ft 50 cent, hands up ft 50 cent, get clapped ft mobb deep, iceman ft Young buck and scarface, NY NY ft Tony yayo, You kno the deal ft Rakim. My top 3 tracks = You know the deal, get clapped, NY NY. Recommended for all lloyd banks fans

I thought this was a really weak album, I only liked like 3 tracks, the best track in my opinion was Get Clapped (ft. Mobb Deep).

not only cause i love LLoyd Banks but really the Album was soo good.
I liked the songs so much and especially Gilmore's.

Guys i just have a question , there was a song in this Album called " One night Standing " the beat of this song was already used in a song in John Cena's Album , really can't remember which song but i'm 100 % sure John Cena used that b4 Banks.
But Banks used it better and the song was good.
