WHY I CHOSE TO REVIEW THIS ALBUM
This Mixtape was a brilliant idea, and.. for a period of about
2 weeks Rapcentral came together to do more than diss eachother.
The first ever RC Mixtape was widely anticipated, but unfortunatly
didn't live up to great expectations and was shortly after
forgotten about. Originally i hated this album, but after a few
listens found that i had been a little too harsh.
RAPCENTRAL REVIEW:
There obviously isn't much i can say about this album, as we made it
ourselves and every track is very different and recorded by very
different artists.. but generally the feel of this album is similar.
Most people selected very underground songs that didn't get the rec-
ognition they deserved.
On this mixtape, there was a few artists featuring i had never heard of,
and this album gives us a chance to discover new rappers we may not have
without listening to this mixtape, but also being forced to listen
to rappers we may conciously reject (for example T.I and Nas in my case) and
either give them a second chance, or confirm your beleif that they are
terrible.
The reason why i think this went wrong, is because people generally picked
lots of songs people hadn't heard of (which was the point) but it
was probobly the off song that people liked, and as such each person
loved their own song but didn't like the others. I was the same
but i would strongly reccomend that you give it another listen !
The following songs i did not like :
You know that im no good (remix)
Sorry Loe, this song was absolutely terrible. picking up the worst track
of the album, and thats saying something ! (nas also featured on this album).
Amy Winehouse is a terrible singer, the tune was horrible and wasn't
accompanied with any decent rapping.. it would be a boring song without
the Amy Winehouse features, and its thrice as bad due to it.
In Between Us
sorry God's Son, i just really hate Nas his voice annoys me... the beat
was fairly wack and the vocal accompanyment was boring, repetative and
during the hook depressing. That also goes for nas' rapping
The Following Songs I Liked The Best (just to name a few) :
Battlefield + If I Die
These songs are the most similar so i liked them both. Battlefield had a good
beat and a sweet hook, but i doubt many people would appreciate it for
the actual rapping during each verse.
If I Die i think most people like because of the 'gerbil' effect during
the song, however the rapping was decent, which brought this song up to 3/5.
Bully
This song was my song, i realise that quite a few of you people had heard this
song but i'm not a big underground fan. I think this is amoung the greatest
display of eminem's flow and i hope that you liked it if you hadn't heard
it before !
Late Night
I just had to draw attention to this song.. i did like it, though after
listening to the lyrics properly found it a bit morbid for my liking
(God's Son - You Sicko!).
(The album also included Gangsta's Paradise which i rated 5/5. But everybody
had heard and loved this song, so there is not alot i can say ! This also
counts for the freestyle, which although not many of us may have heard, all
of us will love it regardless of how good or bad it is - badmouthing it
would be an offence punishable by death by dissing.)
On the whole, i enjoys the overall feel of this album. I personally dont think
i would enjoy other tracks by the same artists, just the occasional under-
ground track such as these every now and again, and i think the first RC
Mixtape deserves more props than it did. And for those who where not active
during when this album was created please D/L this album and give your thoughts.
