'LAUGH NOW, CRY LATER' ALBUM INFO:
Laugh Now, Cry Later was released on June 6, 2006 on Ice Cube's independently owned record label 'Lench Mob Records'. Ice Cube went straight on tour promoting the album. Laugh Now, Cry Later is Ice Cube's first solo album in six years. After spending the last six years mainly doing movie projects, it could be considered a comeback album. The album debuted in the top five selling 144,000 copies in the USA in its first week.
In an interview, Ice Cube said: "I didn’t want to make a record that was like a history book. I wanted to make a record that does what all good hip-hop does: It makes you feel good; it kind of pumps you up, but it also shows you a part of life that you might not have been paying attention to or might not even know exists."
Unlike many other albums in Hip-Hop at this time it is sparse with collaborate rappers, with just a few songs with West Coast hip hop rapper Snoop Dogg, as well as WC and Lil Jon.
It contains 20 tracks (17 songs), with the street single and accompanying video "Chrome & Paint" been released. The first official single is the Scott Storch produced "Why We Thugs." The follow-up single, which came out in late June 2006, is the Snoop Dogg and Lil Jon song "Go to Church".
The artwork for this album contains a picture of Ice Cube holding a custom gold Colt Anaconda.
