BIGGIE SMALLS BEEFS INFO
Here we take a look how Tupac and Biggie became enemies. We'd advise you to check out the Death Row Vs Bad Boy story first. To start with, this is a long and complicated story so we'll try make it as simple as possible while reporting all the details. It is true that 'Pac and Biggie were friends - and pretty good friends. The two hung out together and whenever Tupac did a concert he'd let a virtually unknown Biggie strut his stuff in the middle of his performance. Unfortunately this friendship was essentially ended on the night of November 30 1994, at the Quad Recording Studio - the night Tupac was shot five times.
Most of you know the basics of the story: Tupac walked into the Midtown Manhattan Studio to do some recording when 3 men came from behind and ordered everyone to the floor. Tupac was robbed of $40,000 US worth of jewellery and shot 5 times. After being shot he went upstairs to find Puff Daddy, Biggie and several other New York based rappers / producers / managers sitting in a room shocked to see him. Tupac later mimicked the scene in his video for "2 of America's most Wanted". The video shows Tupac walking in to Puffy's office all shot up and Biggie and Puffy are talking about how now that Tupac is dead Biggie will be the man. The day after the shooting Tupac was convicted of sexual assault. It was in prison that Tupac would learn the shooting was a set up. Tupac never said that it was Biggie that set him up - he only said that Biggie knew of the set up and did not warn him. Puffy on the other hand is rumoured to have played a much more active role in the set up and the reasoning behind the set up. After the shooting, a track by Biggie called "Who Shot Ya?" was released. Biggie claimed it had nothing to do with Tupac or the shooting. Tupac argued that even if the song wasn't about him Biggie should not have put it out because he may think it's about him. Enter Death Row Records CEO Marion "Suge" Knight.
When Suge Knight bailed out Tupac, not only was Tupac mad at Biggie and Bad Boy, he was very confident because he felt like he couldn't be touched with Suge and Death Row's protection. It is rumoured that when 'Pac came out of jail he went and slept with Biggie's wife, Faith Evans. She of course denied the accusation. 'Pac released the track "Hit Em Up" and recorded several (and we mean several!) diss tracks aimed at Biggie, Puffy, Bad Boy, Chino XL, Nas, Jay-Z, Mobb Deep and basically any other rapper that wanted to have their say. That's why Tupac dissed Mobb Deep, Nas and Jay Z. They all gave their opinions when they should have stayed out of it. Like 'Pac said, in HitEmUp "I told you it was about Biggie but everyone had to open their mouth with an opinion".
The signing of Tupac to Death Row enforced the beef to new extremes. There was a confrontation between the two labels at the Soul Train Music awards.
At the Soul Train Awards, Biggie received an award and bigged-up Brooklyn. The crowd was less than impressed. After the awards ceremony, 'Pac and Biggie came face to face for the first time since the shooting. Biggie said he could see Tupac bugging out and BIG also denied a rumour that 'Pac pulled a gun on him.
The real revelations about the beef can be found in Tupac's track "Against All Odds" from the "Makaveli" album. The lyrics tell the story of what happened without actually saying it - get the drift? Tupac say's "Puffy getting' robbed like a bitch, to hide that fact he did some shit he shouldn't have did, so he riden' for that." Translated he is talking about the financiers of Bad Boy wanting Tupac on the label but Tupac didn't want to join so Puffy helped the financiers set up Tupac to be shot.
These are the bare facts to the beef! Whilst the whole Bad Boy Vs Death Row feud was started by some antagonistic comments from Suge Knight, the Tupac Vs Bad Boy war was definitely started by Bad Boy and Puffy.
My Opinion: So called 'Beef' has its very effective roots and established place in HipHop today, and the future of HipHop. But when taken to extremes, in the case of Tupac and Biggie, you can see what shit starts happening, innocent and very talented and loved people start dying, so are these 'beefs' just planned, money orientated schemes, by Suge Knught, and Puffy 'Bitch' Daddy, to kill and profit of these talented young men, or did this 'beef' really mean something. As biggie's song is entitled, you nobody till someone kills you!!!! Ill leave ya wid that one!
