CANIBUS 'Can-I-Bus' ALBUM INFO:
Can-I-Bus is the first full-length album released by Canibus through Universal Records on September 8, 1998. The album was released after the rapper achieved enormous success with his LL Cool J diss track, "Second Round K.O.", which is included on Can-I-Bus, with additional support on the track from heavyweight boxer Mike Tyson.
However, after the album arrived in stores, it was met with disbelief and disappointment. The beats (created mostly by Wyclef Jean) were criticized for their blandness and unoriginality, while other listeners were discouraged by Canibus' distinctive lyrics. Though Can-I-Bus hit #2 on the USA Billboard 200 Chart, #2 on the Top R&B;/Hip Hop Albums chart, and was certified gold, many agree that it all but destroyed the rapper's commercial appeal.
