Here ya go for all you buddin Xboxers
Saturday 28-Oct-2006 11:34 AM New weapons, maps and gameplay details revealed in Swedish games mag
There's only one story that could get us out of bed the morning after the Golden Joysticks - the first hard information and gameplay details on the massively anticipated third Halo game, which have been revealed in Swedish games mag Level that's just reaching gamers' hands now.
Although a lot is apparently missing in the Halo 3 build shown off in the mag - including weather effects and most of the game's HDR lighting - visually it's looking spectacular in the magazine screenshots, which show wide-open fields and huge Forerunner structures reminiscent of the Xbox original.
As with Halo 2's first reveal the article focuses mainly on multiplayer, revealing three map remakes heading for the third instalment; Valhalla (Blood Gulch), High Ground (Zanzibar) and Snowbound (Frost Bite). From the screens the arena re-tinkerings look a bit deeper than Halo 2's remakes, with Blood Gulch appearing to feature rockier terrain and Zanzibar heading for a different environment entirely.
Three new weapons are also touted; the brute Spiker, the massive, vehicle-destroying Spartan Laser and the nail grenade, which apparently sticks to walls and then - as you've probably guessed - shoots pointy-things in every direction.
Also unveiled in the mag is the latest addition to Halo's vehicular arsenal; the Mongoose. It's an ATV-type 2-man vehicle that was originally planned to appear in Halo 2 - excellent for speedy flag escapes and presumably running down unfortunate Spartan foot-soldiers.
The controls have also been remixed; the left and right bumpers are now used for reloading, the right executing a normal reload and the left topping-up your dual-wielded weapon. X meanwhile apparently has a "special use" that Bungie isn't ready to reveal.
But what about single-player? There's almost no mention of the Chief's latest solo adventure in the mag, except for the first details on a new Project Gotham TV-style multiplayer and solo movie-replay system and a Bungie promise that Halo 3 will "contain more plot twists than any other game in the series." We cant wait.
THIS IS GONNA BE FUCKIN GD |
