YOUNG JEEZY LIFE BIOGRAPHY:
No matter what is being supplied, a hustler is only as good as his word. With Atlanta serving up some of the hottest product in the rap game, native son Young Jeezy stands as one of the most exciting merchants of cool to emerge in years.
Young Jeezy was born Jay L. Jenkins in Columbia, South Carolina, USA. He was raised in Hawkinsville, Georgia and who now resides in the metro Atlanta area, were he learnt most of his trade. One of Jeezy's more famous nicknames is "Snowman" because of his past as a drug dealer; "snow" is a slang term for cocaine. Jeezy managed to set up Corporate Thugz Entertainment and promoted Cash Money releases. From there, he branched out as a label boss and an artist in his own right, releasing a few albums and mixtapes. Come Shop wit' Me, his independently distributed debut from 2003, allegedly sold well over 50,000 copies on the streets.
At this time Young Jeezy is signed to hip-hop label giant Def Jam Records as a solo artist but was a formerly a Bad Boy Records protege as a member of the hip-hop quartet Boyz N Da Hood. The group's self-titled debut album, Boys In The Hood, was released on June 21, 2005 and peaked at #5 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
With alot of help from underground testimonials like "Air Forces" and "Chuuch," Jeezy's street swagger and authentic style has quickly made believers out of some the biggest players in the game, from Fabolous to P. Diddy. In his native Atlanta, and throughout the south, Young Jeezy has created nothing short of a movement. The world finally got to find out what insiders have been buzzing about when his debut solo album, 'Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101' which dropped on July 26, 2005 and debuted at #2 selling 172,000 copies in its first week.
